Dear Standley Families,
Welcome back everyone! My entire staff is working hard and making every effort to ensure a great opening to our 2023/2024 school year. The focus of Standley Middle School and San Diego Unified is to develop students who will take an active stance in their own learning and become actively literate contributing members of society, making a positive difference in the world.
Here are few of the many things we are excited about this year:
1. Standley Middle School had the best overall attendance of any middle school in SDUSD last year and best attendance in our UC cluster. Attendance rates are a great indicator of school and student success and we look forward to your continued support ensuring students are here daily.
2. Universal Meals for every student will continue this year. Breakfast and lunch options will be served on campus daily. Please visit the Food and Nutrition Services department on the district’s webpage for menus and other food services information. Students will use their lunch PIN to access.
3. Universal Chromebooks for all students. SDUSD continues to support a 1:1 device model where every student will have a device checked out to them like a textbook. Students will bring it to school every day, charged, and take it home to continue with their schoolwork. New students to the district and incoming 6th will get a new device for their time in middle school.
4. Middle School Athletics are back in SDUSD. Standley was very competitive in every sport last year fielding both boys’ and girls’ teams for all sports offered. Registration for fall sports is open now if your student is interested in basketball or track and field.

I believe that leadership is a reciprocal process not done by one person to another but rather between people. My staff and I are energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children.
